Ok, so after a bit more messing with the worn out keyfob, i managed to get it to unlock the car (had to practically put my thumb through thr fob, but meh, it worked) so now i know it�s just the one faulty key. Luckily, subaru offers a way for you to program your remote at home without the assistance of a dealer. I was installing interior led lights (map, dome) and must have shorted something during the install. Programming the impreza remote is the same whether you have the wrx, the wagon or the sedan. Key slot has been lubed and key turns freely clockwise and counterclockwise until it doesn�t.
